Cooking for me is simply therapeutic. It does wonders to the brain in terms of unwinding and relaxing. Cooking requires love and concentration. If its just made as a duty then it won't taste as good as if its made with affection. Therein lies the key difference between cooking as a hobby and passion versus cooking as a daily chore.
